[. . .or he would, if he were any other man. The panicked expression turns into a look of sadism as Chobe smiles, and right before Kabru's eyes, his neck begins stitching back together. Vine like tattoos peek through Chobe's blood as they pull his skin back together as if it were as simple as zipping up a wound. Once he can speak again, he spits some excess blood to the side, and rolls his neck.]
Nice. So you weren't all talk! Gotta say, I'm impressed.
[As if Kabru needed more confirmation he wasn't entirely human. . .Chobe holds out an arm, and a thick, woody vine emerges, splitting his skin, and then whips over to try and snag Kabru to pull him closer.]
Well then! How about we get to know each other even better now?
[ There was absolutely no way it would be that easy. Kabru could already sense there was something abnormal about this man, and his suspicions were confirmed when Chobe cracks into a smile despite the gushing wound in his neck, standing in place despite the fact that most humans would be choking on their own blood. Then, he spots the vines that mend and stitch that wound he's created, and and the whole scene makes the other man look rather monstrous. Is this a form of magic? It doesn't look like any sort of magic he's ever seen. Those vines appear to be a part of Chobe's body, and it's more likely that he's a kind of monster plant. ]
What are you ...?! [ Monsters don't typically speak or have intelligence, from what he knows about them. Then again, there's a lot about them he doesn't know. There's no time to be pondering anything. Kabru keeps his guard up, ready to defend himself. If only the casino had spared him at least one of his daggers. How is he actually going to defend himself at all? ]
Stay back! I won't hesitate to strike you again! [ Not that he was hesitating before in the slightest. The vines latch on to his limbs and neck easily, and Kabru thrashes against them, using both his fork and his teeth to tear up whatever vines he can in a rather pathetic display. Since stabbing that man in his vital organs was useless, he should focus on getting away from the situation, and he resists the other man's attempts to pull him closer with all his might, trying to turn tail and run. He isn't a coward, but he also isn't stupid and knows his chances are slim when he doesn't even have a proper weapon. ]
Haah? I'm not comin' near ya! You're coming to me.
[It is really cute watching Kabru struggle like that. He's got some feral energy to him that Chobe finds fascinating. He's not letting up though, and another vine slinks out to sweep at Kabru's legs to throw him off balance, and drag him on over. Chobe will crouch to the ground to meet him.]
Now now, where did all that earlier confidence go? I thought ya ~wanted to get to know me~? Was that a lie, just tryin' to tell me what I want to hear. . .? Or are ya that put off by a little rough housing? [A mocking tsk tsk sound.]
As for what I am. . .
[He leans closer, and his skin darkens, parts of his body hardening like bark as dark vines creep over him. That seemingly dead, defunct eye now has a sinister glow to it.]
Human, monster, demon--it's all the same to me! But how this ends depends on your answer.
[ There's little he could do against vines. Perhaps, if he had a torch, he could torch this creature. Unfortunately, he doesn't have such a thing, and that would run the risk of Chobe not dying, but in fact turning into a terrifying, flaming inferno of a vined-man still trying to grapple Kabru in his vines. The thing he does need is a dagger, so he could cut these vines and break free. For now, he's helpless, thrown off balance and being dragged along the ground to meet the other man.
Chobe leans closer, body hardening like bark as those vines crawl out. He's definitely a monster of some sort. There's no magical spell he can think of that could cause a man to look like this. It's a scary sight, of course. Kabru is only human. He shouldn't have taken the chance to try and get to know someone who sounded dangerous, but he made the assumption they were a regular human. A regular human, he could handle. ]
It wasn't a lie, but am I supposed to have a conversation with someone who just tried to choke me out?! [ Make it make sense!!!!!!! Be normal!!!! Chobe's up close and personal, and Kabru still tries to maintain the distance between them by thrashing and kicking him in the chest. Anything he can do, really. ] Are you going to kill me?
[ Wouldn't be the stupidest reason he's died, but here, he might not be able to revive. ]
[It's entirely possible that's exactly what would happen. He'd just have a very angry flaming monster on his hands. 50/50 if it'd actually change the current situation.
Once dragged to his feet, Chobe crouches, that grin just shining through his dark form. The kick is stopped short by another vine just before it hits his chest, Chobe waggling a finger. Another vine pulls Kabru up to a sitting position--he's still ensnared, but at least he's propped up. How nice. Chobe cocks his head, snickering.]
What, I can't just say hi? What would've been the point of all that big talk if I couldn't walk the walk, eh? S'not my fault ya didn't ask for more details.
[He brings a clawed hand up to Kabru's cheek, digging in juuust enough to draw a line of blood. Then he brings his face close.]
Do ya want me to kill ya? I'm down for it! I love a good murder. But I can have fun in other ways.
[A snap--and all those vines suddenly retract, leaving just the monster before him.
