Since stabbing that man in his vital organs was useless, he should focus on getting away from the situation, and he resists the other man's attempts to pull him closer with all his might, trying to turn tail and run. He isn't a coward, but he also isn't stupid and knows his chances are slim when he doesn't even have a proper weapon. ]
